Massage in Manly
What’s involved
Hands-on soft-tissue therapy in a private treatment room, with pressure tailored to your individual comfort and preferences.
- Remedial, deep tissue, hot stone and pregnancy
- Sessions from 30 to 90 minutes
- Three therapists, five days a week
Our approach
No two sessions the same
Our therapists don’t work from a fixed routine. Each session starts with a short conversation about what you want from it, and the technique follows from there.
Enquire nowYou set the pressure
From strong and deep to gentle and shallow. Your therapist checks in during the session and adjusts whenever you ask.
Three different backgrounds
Movement and exercise, traditional Tibetan bodywork, and Chinese medicine. Reception can point you to whichever suits what you’re after.
Alongside your other care
Massage at Akasha is part of a broader integrative health offering that includes acupuncture and naturopathy. It complements, rather than replaces, appropriate medical advice or treatment from your GP or other healthcare professionals.
Where our therapists focus
Areas of clinical interest
Our therapists work across the full scope of remedial massage. These are the areas each has chosen to focus on:
Your visit
What to expect
Here is how a session usually runs.
- A short conversation about your health, what you’d like from the session and any areas to avoid.
- Treatment in a private room, with pressure tailored to your comfort and preferences.
- Your therapist will check in throughout your treatment and adjust the pressure or approach to your comfort.
- For pregnancy massage, side-lying positioning or a pregnancy cushion can be used for your comfort. Let us know how far along you are when booking.
- Practical aftercare suggestions where appropriate, such as gentle stretches and hydration.

The styles we offer
What each style involves. If you’re not sure which to book, reception will talk it through with you.
Focused work on muscles that are knotted, tense or immobile, working on specific areas rather than the whole body evenly. Pressure ranges from strong and deep to gentle and shallow, depending on what you ask for.
Lobsang offers both within the same session lengths. Sports work is firmer and more targeted; relaxation uses longer, flowing strokes across the whole body. You choose when you book, or on the day.
Given side-lying or on a pregnancy cushion. Available with Lobsang in 60 and 90 minute sessions, and with Amrit combined with acupuncture. Tell us how far along you are when booking, and speak with your GP or midwife first if you have any concerns.
Amrit offers hot stone remedial massage, and lymphatic drainage combined with acupuncture. Both run 85 minutes. See her sessions in the fee table below.
Lobsang trained in Tibet and India and holds certification in Traditional Tibetan Therapy, alongside his Diploma of Remedial Massage. If you’d like elements of this tradition incorporated into your session, mention it when booking.

Claiming the massage part of a combination
A combination is two separate services booked back to back at a combined price, not one treatment. Where the massage is remedial, it can be claimed with Medibank — but only if it appears as a separate line on your invoice against each Massage Therapist’s provider number. Ask for it that way at reception. Any rebate is calculated on the massage component alone, never on the combined price.
Combinations are given by Lobsang only, so they are currently available Sunday and Monday afternoons. Each service in a combination is booked and screened separately. Fees are current at the time of publication and may change — the fee confirmed at booking applies.

Frequently asked questions
Remedial massage works on specific areas that are knotted, tense or immobile. Relaxation massage uses longer, flowing strokes across the whole body. Lobsang offers both within the same session lengths, so you can decide on the day.
Whatever you ask for — from strong and deep to gentle and shallow. Your therapist checks in as they work, and you can ask for a change at any point in the session.
Pregnancy massage is given side-lying or on a pregnancy cushion. Tell us how far along you are when you book so we can set the room up. If you have any concerns about massage during your pregnancy, speak with your GP or midwife first.
Only for remedial massage. All three therapists hold Medibank provider numbers for it, but relaxation, sports and general pregnancy massage are not usually claimable — so say which you want when you book, and ask for the receipt to name it. Whether you get anything back still depends on your fund and level of cover, and other funds differ from Medibank, including on whether they recognise remedial massage at all. Please check with your own fund before your appointment, as we cannot confirm what you will get back.
Lobsang has the widest range of session lengths and works Sunday and Monday afternoons and evenings. Ash works Tuesday afternoons and evenings. Amrit combines massage with acupuncture, Wednesday to Friday and alternate Sundays. If you’re not sure, call reception on 02 7228 5363.
Yes, subject to availability. The combinations pair a 45- or 60-minute massage with the sauna, ice bath or mHBOT, and are given by Lobsang only — see the fees above, or the Reset Rooms.
