The bath

How it is set up

Cold water immersion is a bath held at a set low temperature. Ours sits in its own suite within the Reset Rooms and runs on an iCool chiller, which holds the temperature itself rather than being topped up with ice by hand.

Book a session

Held down to 5 °C

An iCool chiller holds the bath at its set temperature for the whole session, down to 5 °C. It is the same from one visit to the next rather than depending on how much ice went in that morning.

A suite to yourself

The bath sits in a private suite with its own rain shower. It takes one person at a time, so a two-person booking is a booking of the suite — you take turns in the water while the other waits.

Briefed, then self-paced

Our team does not stay in the room, but is in the clinic throughout. A fully guided session is available as a separate booking.

Your session

What to expect

If you have not done this before, here is how a session runs.

  • Your session opens with a one-on-one briefing: safety, how the unit works, breathing and getting in.
  • Time in the water is typically 1–10 minutes in total, often in rounds of 1–3 minutes with a rest between.
  • You set your own pace. There is no target to hit, and you can get out at any point.
  • Finish in the suite’s private rain shower, in your own time.
  • The infrared sauna can be booked with the ice bath as a single 50 minute session.

Good to know

Before you book

Check with your doctor first if any of this applies

Getting into cold water causes a sharp, involuntary change in breathing and heart rate. If you are pregnant, have a heart, blood pressure or circulatory condition, have epilepsy, asthma or another respiratory condition, or are under medical care for anything ongoing, please speak with your GP before booking. Tell our team as well — and if you are unsure, call us on 02 7228 5363 before you book.

The bath runs on an iCool chiller and is held down to 5 °C. The unit holds the temperature rather than the bath being iced by hand, so it is the same from one visit to the next. Our team will confirm the setting for your session at your briefing.

Typically 1–10 minutes in total, often taken as rounds of 1–3 minutes with a rest between rather than in one go. That sits inside a 20 or 30 minute booking, which also covers your briefing, changing and the shower afterwards. Our team talks through timing with you before you get in, and you can get out at any point.

Swimwear, or clean dry underwear. Bring your own drink bottle and dry clothes for afterwards. The suite has a private rain shower, and we provide a towel, 1 litre of filtered water, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion. Please arrive 10 minutes before your booking for check-in and your safety briefing.

Yes. The two are sold together as a single 50 minute booking for up to three people, and there is a version — Private Guided Recovery — led by a member of our team from start to finish. See the infrared sauna for what that room involves.

Yes, up to two people on an ice bath booking. The bath takes one person at a time, so a two-person booking is a booking of the suite for the two of you and you take turns in the water. Three people can be booked on the combined sauna and ice bath session. The figures are in the table above.
